This website is paid for and maintained by members of the Narragansett Fire Department. This is not the official business page of the Narragansett Fire Department.
This site was made to give Narragansett resident’s a small glimpse at what their firefighters do. Also, to provide resident’s with taxpayer information that can sometimes be difficult to find through the regular avenues.
Narragansett FireFighters have been providing professional Fire and Emergency Medical Services to the town for over 50 years, and will continue to do so in the future. We care about our community, and it’s fiscal stability.

FireFighters settle contract with town
On October 17th, 2011 the Narragansett Firefighters settled a contract with the town. Highlights of the contract include an increase of employee retirement contributions, an increase in minimal retirement age for new hires, and the elimination of compensatory time.
Under the new contract, the town will realize a
savings of roughly $200,000 annually, along with a reduction in post employment benefit’s, and pension unfunded liabilities.
Firefighters would like to thank the three town council members who voted for the contract, of which will save the town a substantial amount of money over the life of the contract.
The town of Narragansett recently paid for a study in order to gauge how taxpayers feel about the different departments and services in town.
Although competition was fierce, NFD came out #1 as the department residents felt most satisfied with.
ETC Institute conducted the survey. A representative from the company told the town council that the level of services, and satisfaction he saw in Narragansett are amongst the highest in the nation.
Once again, the FireFighters Ball at the Dunes club was a smashing success. Our deepest
thanks to all that attended; we look forward to next years Ball like always!
Thanks again Narragansett!
Members of the Narragansett Fire Department recently attended the annual Muscular
Dystrophy Association’s(MDA) check presentation ceremony. During this event, all
funds raised on the streets are handed over to the MDA. Narragansett Firefighters
participate every year, along with the majority of other departments throughout Rhode
Island.
Service Alternative Study for NFD finally comes in!
Last year, the Narragansett Town Council hired a private consultant to analyze NFD.
This was done because certain councilors were interested in seeing the department
convert to a volunteer department, and have services privatized. The consultant overwhelmingly
recommended services be provided in the same manner they are now. The cost of the
study was around $37,000. Check it out........ Click below
